Install IBM JDK on Ubuntu
Use rpm command to install IBM JDK 1.4.2 failed.
rpm -ivh IBMJava2-142-ia32-SDK-1.4.2-9.0.i386.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
glibc > 2.1.0 is needed by IBMJava2-142-ia32-SDK-1.4.2-9.0.i386
libstdc++.so.5 is needed by IBMJava2-142-ia32-SDK-1.4.2-9.0.i386
libXp.so.6 is needed by IBMJava2-142-ia32-SDK-1.4.2-9.0.i386
/bin/sh is needed by IBMJava2-142-ia32-SDK-1.4.2-9.0.i386
So resort to alien command to convert the rpm to debian format and install it.
Install .rpm Files in Debian and Ubuntu
Install alien in Ubuntu:
sudo apt-get install alien
Convert .rpm to debian:
alien -k IBMJava2-142-ia32-SDK-1.4.2-9.0.i386.rpm
Install .deb file:
dpkg -i ibmjava2-142-ia32-sdk_1.4.2-9.0_i386.deb
